In its quest for self-sufficiency: Al-Kafeel hatchery encourages local production and preservation of livestock.

The al-Kafeel hatchery is one of the projects of the Al-Kafeel Company for Public Investments in the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, and one of the projects that seek to support the local product and preserve the livestock and meet the needs of poultry projects from chicks, whether specialized in the production of chicken meat or table eggs. This project began to take broad and studied steps to achieve this goal.

The project has an annual production capacity of more than (19 million) chicks, and it is hoped that it will reach (24 million) chicks, as it is one of the tributaries of the Iraqi economy, thanks to its contribution to the improvement of production to achieve food security for Iraq and reduce dependence on the imported products.

It is also considered one of the most important hatcheries in the country because it contains the latest devices in this field. And in a short period of time, it was able to win the trust of poultry breeders, as its produced chicks achieved good results that exceeded their peers. Thus becoming a requirement for most poultry farmers in the Iraqi governorates.

The director of the aforementioned company, Engineer Rasoul Al-Rumahi, explained to the Al-Kafeel network, saying: “The hatchery is considered one of the investment projects in the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine. It seeks to provide chicks for poultry farmers in the governorates, after they are produced by advanced mechanisms and modern devices that are unique to the hatchery at the country level, to ensure the arrival of chicks with good qualities that are suitable for the purpose of their use, whether for meat or eggs. The chicks are vaccinated against epidemic diseases to increase their immunity and reduce their mortality. "

Al-Rumahi stressed: “The production line in the hatchery is distinguished by working in an advanced automatic manner, relying on accurate computer-based electronic devices, and this in turn will save us time and effort in high quality production.”

Noting: "The hatchery was established in 2016 and contains an isolated building equipped with the latest heating and cooling equipment, egg receiving and sorting halls, an egg storage warehouse equipped with modern egg turners, incubation machines, and hatcheries, as well as a dedicated space equipped for vaccination and a cages' sink."

The project aims to:

- Contributes to supporting the local product.

- Supplying poultry farmers (eggs and meat) with strains of high productivity in terms of weight and type, and suitable for Iraqi conditions.

- Contributing to the employment of the workforce.

- Introducing modern and advanced technologies in this field.

- Contributing to the development of livestock development in Iraq.

- Sources of chicks are healthy and subject to laboratory examination before and after hatching.
