Diagnosis and treatment of children with special cases in the joint cooperation between the institutions of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine.

An expanded meeting of a specialized committee from the Education Department at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and the management of al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital, was held to discuss mechanisms of joint cooperation between the department and the hospital in the field of diagnosis and treatment of children suffering from disorders of organic functional bases, in order to provide the necessary treatments for cases that require cochlear implants or the use of hearing aids as well as other medical services.

This measure aims forming a specialized committee to conduct an integrated diagnosis of (special needs) cases at the Al-Kafeel Institute for Learnable Children.

Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Wassim Al-Nafi'i, told Al-Kafeel Network, saying: "This meeting aimed to complete the special education file in the Education and Higher Education Department, and to discuss the medical aspects of cases diagnosed in the Al-Kafeel Institute for children who are able to learn and learners of the al-Ameed educational group."

Al-Nafi'i added, "It was agreed to start work in this field with the cases of the Al-Kafeel Institute for Learnable Children, in a manner consistent with the procedures drawn up by the supervisory teams, especially with regard to the behavioral and educational aspects."

For his part, Mr Bashar Tweij, Head of the Early Monitoring Unit in the Special Education Division, said: “The Department of Education and Higher Education is concerned with the segment of distinguished children (who are able to learn), and from its endeavors to create joint cooperation with medical institutions to reach contemporary means that enable those in charge of the Special Education Division to identify problems that the child suffers from, and thus providing appropriate rehabilitation programs or referring these cases to agencies specialized in problems that need medical or surgical intervention."

He continued: "In this context, the Special Education Committee discussed, in the presence of the educational assistant of the Department of Education and Higher Education at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, with the administration of Al-Kafeel Hospital, cooperation mechanisms that will be provided by each of the two parties to serve this segment, in the diagnostic, rehabilitation and treatments, starting from the community of the holy city of Karbala until the rest of provinces."
