Thigh bone implantation at al-Kafeel Hospital.

A medical team at the Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital of the al-Abbas's (p) shrine announced that it had successfully implanted and fixed a bone in the left thigh of a twenty-year-old patient.

Dr. Ahmed Alaa, a specialist in orthopedics, fractures and joints at the hospital, said: “Our medical team has succeeded in implanting a bone in the left thigh of twenty-year-old patient,” adding that: “The bone was stabilized using the closed mesh technique, which helps the patient to walk in a short time after the operation".

Dr. Alaa added, "The patient had a previous operation in another hospital, during which a metal plate was fixed, and after two years the plate was broken," noting: "The patient weighs 150 kg."

The orthopedic and fracture specialist explained: "The patient left the hospital 4 days after the operation and was in good health."
