More than a million and a half meals served by the host restaurant of the al-Abbas’s (p) holy shrine during last year.

The host restaurant department of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine announced that the total number of the meals it provided during the year 2020 was (1,648,485) meals, which were distributed to the visitors of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and other groups, although its stopped its activity for more than three months, as a result of the spread of the Corona epidemic and its repercussions.

The head of the department, Engineer Adel Al-Hamami, stated to the al-Kafeel Network: “The year 2020 AD was very exceptional, because of the spread of the Corona epidemic and the imposition of curfews, and this is what led us to stop providing meals to visitors and only provide meals for other groups, such as the security forces and those affected by this virus and who are isolated at the hospitals, in addition to the workers in the al-Hayat buildings that the Holy Shrine created to treat those infected with this virus."

He added, "Despite these circumstances that the staffs of our department are not accustomed to, and with the return of life little by little, we returned to our work by following a diet and a strict precautionary and preventive system, in a manner that guarantees the achievement of the principle of public health and the safety of workers and visitors alike."

Indicating: “The groups that were blessed with these meals were as follows:

First: Visitors to the sanctuary shrine. The meals are provided to them in the host's halls inside the Holy Sanctuary, or through the external distribution outlets.

Second: The visitors of Ashura and the Ziyarat Arba'een of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), as the host restaurant played a major role in providing meals for the visitors, so it was the first to be honored with this service until bidding farewell to the last visitor.

Third: Guests of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine from official and unofficial delegations.

Fourth: Those who were quarantined as a result of their infection with the Corona virus, as the distribution included three isolation halls in the Karbala governorate.

Fifth: Peaceful demonstrators by contributing to their support in the Karbala demonstration square, and by providing them with meals at the beginning of last year.

Sixth: The volunteers of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine who participate in the implementation of the security and service plan for the Holy Shrine in the important Ziyarat seasons.

Seventh: Visitors to the two holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and his brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon them both) on special occasions (birth and martyrdom anniversaries of the imams, peace be upon them) and Friday eves.

Eighth: Trainees of the Al-Kafeel Academy for Ambulance and Medical Evacuation.

Ninth: The security forces during the period of total and partial restrictions imposed as a result of the Corona epidemic.

In the preparation of these meals, diversity was taken into account to suit the taste of the visitor, and there was a distribution of other meals, such as juices, fruits and sweets, which were distributed in special seasons.
