A medical team specializing in neurosurgery at Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital announced that it had successfully performed an operation to stabilize the cervical vertebrae and remove pressure on the spinal cord of a patient in her forties.
The neurosurgeon specialist at the hospital, Dr. Hussam Al-Anbari, said: “Our medical team succeeded in replacing a cartilage with a (cage), and fixing the upper and lower neck vertebrae with a palette and screws.”
Adding that: "During the operation, pressure was removed on the spinal cord and nerves in the affected area of ​​the 41-year-old patient."
"The operation was performed through a small opening from the front of the neck," Dr. Al-Anbari said, noting that "the patient is in very good health after the two-hour surgery."
He mentioned that: "The patient was suffering from a severe slipped disc between the cervical vertebrae, which caused her severe pain and numbness in the neck and upper limbs."
