The authority file for Iraqi authors enhances its services with an international standard.

The Indexing and Information Systems Center of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has strengthened the services contained in its project "the authority file for Iraqi authors", as the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI), which is an international standard approved by ISO (2012 / ISO 27729), has been added. It is an identifier system for uniquely identifying the public identities of contributors to media content so that every Iraqi author has a unique international number that can be searched on the internet.

The director of the center of the Library of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Mr. Hassanein al-Mousawi, said to the al-Kafeel network: “This service is one of a number of services and additions that our center works on, in order to develop this site and bring it to the ranks of its peers from global sites, in light of the sober scientific competition with the ranks of international libraries. And it also aims to provide an effective means to remove confusion about public identities in the field of digital environment."

He added: "The identifier is considered a method for identifying public figures who contribute to writing the contents of the media, and it is called the (standard selector) and consists of (16) digits and is also a numerical representation of the name for the accuracy of the linking (the same names), and it determines the identity of the personalities used in general by the parties involved in the creativity, production, management and distribution in the content industry."

Al-Mousawi noted that: "This standard identifier can be used to identify public identities in databases, and it can also support information exchange in the context of media content management."
