The project was implemented by Ardh al-Quds for Construction Contracting, an Iraqi company, with direct supervision and follow-up by the Engineering Projects Department at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine.
The al-Kafeel technical garage is the first specialized garage established in Iraq according to international specifications of high quality. It is built on an area of 72.125 m2 and a building area of 42.000 m2, which has been divided into five parts:
1- The administrative complex, as a central station for the project.
- Fuel station with a storage capacity estimated to one million liters, and is equipped with the latest technologies used in the world's fuel stations.
3- Light vehicles repair workshop.
4- Heavy vehicles repair workshop, both working with modern automatic systems.
5 - Warehouse for light and heavy cars in two storeys, with a capacity of more than 500 vehicles.
The garage is distinguished architecturally because it was constructed by modern and developed methods and of high-quality and light materials, represented by the solid bases (steel structure) and materials resistant to all conditions of hot and cold weather, as well as supported with fire-proofing materials using the latest technology for all parts of the project.
The garage is a center for containing large numbers of cars belonging to the Holy Shrine, as well as their maintenance. It is one of the most important projects implemented by the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, and will be characterized by the international specifications in line with the objectives envisaged for it; to be one of the most important industrial icons in the holy city of Karbala.
