Barakat Umm Al Baneen Farms are one of the tributaries supporting the local economy.

Barakat Umm al-Baneen (peace be upon her) farms are considered among the farms that provide strategic and fodder crops, in addition to containing a special aspect of sheep breeding, in order to provide local products with high quality to the local market.

Concerning these farms, the head of the Department of Agricultural Affairs and Livestock Resources at the Al-Kafeel Company for Public Investments of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; Engineer Ali Maz'al Layedh, stated: "The General Secretariat of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has developed a set of long-term strategic plans, by establishing projects that are relied upon in important areas, closely related to the economic aspect of the country, such as the adoption of agricultural and industrial projects in various fields."

He added: "After the successes achieved in this field, the Holy Shrine, represented by the Al-Kafeel Company for General Investments, established Barakat Umm Al-Baneen Farms (peace be upon her) for strategic crops, which are considered important farms, as they include a special aspect of sheep breeding."

Layedh continued, "The farm has an area of ​​620 dunums and is located on the (Karbala-Baghdad) road in the Al-Kamaliyah area. Wheat and barley crops are grown in it, in addition to fodder crops such as alfalfa and fodder corn."

He explained: "The first step of this project began through preparing and digging rivers and drains in these farms. After that, production work was started, part of which is stored for the coming seasons after purification, and the other part is marketed to the Ministry of Trade (silo Karbala)."

Layedh said: "These farms also contain two covered areas of (3000 m2), with places to raise 600 female sheep, in addition to a group of rams and lambs, and they depend on grazing within the green spaces planted in this area of the project".
