A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine announced the success of a lumbar vertebra fixation operation for a young woman in her twenties using local anesthesia.
The specialist in spine surgery at the hospital, the Lebanese doctor, Dr. Amer Al-Sabali said: “Our medical team received a 23-year-old patient with a fracture in the first lumbar vertebra and she needed urgent surgical intervention, but she suffers from other health problems and cannot be given general anesthesia,” indicating: “After studying all the tests related to the patient, we decided to perform the operation using local anesthesia, to reduce the risk of complications for her.”
Al-Sabali added, "We succeeded in performing the operation according to what we had prepared with a small surgical opening, so we fixed the broken vertebra and then injected it with a cement material to fix it completely," stressing: "The patient did not have any complications, and her pain decreased significantly, and the movement of her limbs is normal and she can walk after (24) hours.”
