The Sixth of Moharram: Habib bin Mudhahir calls Bani Asad in support of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).

The narratives indicate that on the sixth of Moharram 61 AH, when Habib Ibn Mudhahir (may God be pleased with him) saw the large number of soldiers and their determination to fight al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), he came to him and said to him: My master, there is a neighborhood of Bani Asad close by, would you give me permission to go to them and invite them to your victory? Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) said to him: Yes, you may go.

Then he went hiding in the middle of the night, so that when he came to that neighborhood, they met him and welcomed him, then they said to him: What do you need? He said: I brought you the best of what a newcomer brought to his people. I came to you to invite you to support the son of the Messenger of God’s daughter (may God’s prayers be upon him ‌and his family), and this is Ibn Saad who surrounded him and you are my clan, obey me and you will nail the honor of this world and the hereafter. I swear by Allah that no one of you will be killed unless Mohammad (May Allah's prayers be upon him, and his holy household) will be his companion on the Day of Resurrection.

Then a man named Abdullah bin Bashir stood up and said: O Habib, as for me, I am the first to answer your invitation, and here I am with you. He said: So they hastened until they gathered ninety men, and came with him, wanting the support of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).

He said: But a man went out from that neighborhood and came to Ibn Saad and told him, so he called the Azraq Shami, and he gathered five hundred horsemen to him and went to stop Bani Asad at night on the Euphrates shore. They fought an hour.

He said: And when Bani Asad saw that they had no power over the fighters, they retreated to their neighborhood, and Habib remained alone, so he returned to Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and told him the news, then Imam all-Hussayn (peace be upon him) said: We belong to God and we shall return to him. And you do not will except that Allah wills, and there is no strength or power except with God Almighty."
