Yazeed hanged on a cross the holy head of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) in three places in Damascus.

It is apparent from the narrations that Yazeed - upon him, the curse of God - after he had fulfilled his desire to see the decapitated head of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and the heads of his family in his hands, he commanded to erect them in three places, respectively:

- At the door of his palace.

- Then at the gates of Damascus.

- Then at the gates of the Jami'a Masjid.

As for the head of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), he hanged it at the door of his palace for three days, and his wife Hind denounced his action, then he hanged it on a cross at the gates of Damascus, then brought it to his bedroom for one night, and when Hind woke up at night and saw the lights rising from the head to the sky, so she threatened Yazeed to leave him. So he ordered to take it out from his house and crucified at the door of the mosque, or on the minaret of the Damascus Mosque.

As for the rest of the heads, they were hanged on cross one day at the door of the palace, and for several days at the gates of the city, then at the gates of the Great Mosque.

Al-Muqarram says in his book "al-Maqtal": "Then the head was removed from the majlis, and crucified on the palace door for three days. Yazeed ordered the heads to be hanged on cross at the gates of the city and the Umayyad Mosque, and they did so.

When Hind bint Amr Ibn Suhail, the wife of Yazeed, saw the head at the door of her house and the divine light shining from it, and his blood was soft and did not dry out, and she smelled a good smell from it, she, tore her clothes, rushed out from behind the curtains and ran towards Yazeed with bare feet, crying out, “O Yazeed! Did you order to hang the head of al-Hussayn at the doorstep of my house? Yazeed jumped up, covered her, and said, “O Hind! Are you crying for the son of the daughter of the Prophet?” Ibn Ziyad hastened and killed him! May God kill him.”

The head of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) was hanged on a cross, where the head of Yahya (peace be upon him) had hanged.

And in (The Life of Imam al-Hussayn) by Sheikh Baqir Sharif al-Qurashi: After the evil Yazeed spent his time from tampering with the head of the Master of the Youth of Paradise, he hanged it for three days in the Damascus Mosque, in the place where the head of Yahya son of Zakaria (peace be upon them) was hanged.

And in (Taqweem Al-Buldan) by Abu al-Fida that when Yahya son of Zakariya (peace be upon them) was killed, his head was placed on the door of the mosque called Giroun gate, and at this same Giroun Gate the head of al-Hussayn Ibn Ali (peace be upon them) was hanged.
