The Department of Hussayni Rituals, Processions, and Bodies in Iraq and the Islamic World, affiliated to the two holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), began the preparations for the fifteenth edition of the Fatimi Sorrows Festival.
The head of the department Haj Riyadh Ni'mah al-Salman stated: "The festival that will be held in the Square between the Two Holy Shrines, is among the festivals and cultural events, which our department is holding every year," adding: "It lasts for ten days, with a series of mourning events, which embodies some of the stages of the life of Lady az-Zahra (peace be upon her)."
And "We are trying to make the martyrdom anniversary of Lady az-Zahra (peace be upon her) take the form of mini Ashura. Noting that no matter what we do, Lady az-Zahra (peace be upon her) deserves more," he said. "We consider the establishment of such events are ways and mechanisms through which we can shed light on the injustice and oppression she faced (peace be upon her)."
It is reported that the festival is organized annually by the Department of Hussayni Rituals, Processions and Bodies, in commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of our Lady Fatima az-Zahra (may God’s peace be upon her), coinciding with the second narration).
