A delegation from the Regional Office of the Cordoba Peace Institute - Geneva (CPI-Geneva), Middle East Branch, visited the Center for African Studies of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, in order to learn about its work, missions, activities and events.
The delegation was headed by Mr. Charlotte Meunier, Director of the Regional Office, accompanied by the Swiss Foreign Affairs Adviser, as well as the Director of the Cordoba Institute for Peace in Iraq, Dr. Abbas Urwa, accompanied by Dr. Mohammad Turki, Director General of Human Rights in the Iraqi Ministry of Justice.
The visiting delegation was received by the director of the center, Sheikh Saad al-Shummari, who gave the delegation a general explanation about the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and its projects, in addition to giving a special explanation about the center, the work of the division and its affiliated units, its goals and purpose of its establishment and achievements on educational and intellectual levels concerning the continent of Africa, whether in their countries or inside Iraq, and the future plans that are intended to be implemented.
At the conclusion of this visit, the delegation expressed its happiness to see the center, which is part of the activities of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, wishing it to continue the pace of these activities and expand their scope, stressing that it is a nice thing that the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine to adopt such centers.
It is noteworthy that the Cordoba Peace Institute - Geneva is a Swiss, non-governmental, non-profit organization working in the field of promoting peace. It was established in the city of Geneva in 2002 in order to advance research and dialogue on issues of peace, and to promote exchange between cultures and civilizations, and aims to strengthen theoretical and practical resources in the field of rationalizing disputes in Muslim-majority countries.
