A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala announced that it had succeeded in implanting a smart lens for a 10-year-old girl with severe vision impairment.
Dr. Salam al-Qar'awi, an ophthalmologist at the hospital, said, "Our medical team succeeded in implanting a trifocal IOL for a 10-year-old girl, as well as removing the blackness from her eyes," explaining that "the operation was performed under local anesthesia."
Al-Qar'awi confirmed that "the girl was able to see clearly at far and near distances, without the need to use medical glasses," noting that "the operation took only 10 minutes."
