Al-Kafeel Hospital continues the success of orthopedic implants

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital affiliated with the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine announced that it had succeeded in transplanting the left thigh bone to a patient in his twenties, while indicating that the patient was suffering from bone loss as a result of a traffic accident.
"We succeeded in using the Ilizarov technique to implant and stabilize a bone, after transferring it from the left leg to the left thigh of a 26-year-old patient," said Dr. Osama Abd al-Hassan, a specialist in orthopedics and fractures at the hospital.
And he indicated that "the patient was suffering from a loss of (10 cm) from the thigh bone as a result of a traffic accident."
Dr. Abd al-Hassan explained that "the operation was carried out in two stages, the first, during which an artificial bone was implanted for the patient, and the second, during which we performed the process of transferring the fibula bone from the left leg to the thigh."
