Implantation of a valve to treat hydrocephalus in a child at the Al-Kafeel Hospital

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine succeeded in treating a two-year-old child suffering from hydrocephalus.
The specialist in neurosurgery at the hospital, the Turkish doctor, Dr. Mustafa Agkon, said, "Our medical team succeeded in emptying fluids accumulated on the brain of a two-year-old child," noting that "the operation was carried out by placing a valve in the child's brain."
Agkon explained that "hydrocephalus or the presence of excess water on the brain in children, means an increase in the pressure of the brain fluid (pituitary fluid), as a result of the presence of congenital or non-congenital narrowing in the child's brain."
And the specialist in neurosurgery indicated that "after this operation, he had a second operation, for the purpose of beautifying the head so that it would take its natural shape," stressing that "the child is in good health after the operation."
