Al-Kafeel university, affiliated with the Higher Education Authority at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, has achieved a new scientific achievement in addition to its series of scientific achievements in various research fields, represented by registering (12) local isolation (Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis) in the database of the National Center for biotechnological information in the United States of America "Global Gene Bank".
Through the assistant teacher Nour al-Huda Dakhel al-Karawi teaching at the Faculty of medical and health technologies at the University, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Haider Mahmoud Ali Samka at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Kufa.
The data were published on the website (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) code ON010012 to ON010024. It is part of an effort by researchers that began two years ago, to build a database of local isolations. The researchers have so far been able to isolate, diagnose and record (20) pathological local isolates of Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis, and work is continuing to build a database of local Candida yeasts to supplement the global library with genetic data, due to the scarcity of data on the local thyme for these yeasts.
For his part, the president of Al-Kafeel University, Prof. Dr. Nawras Shahid al-Dahan, praised the distinguished scientific efforts of the researcher, and blessed her scientific achievement, which is added to the record of successes and achievements of scientific competencies at the University, stressing that the presidency of the university will remain supportive of such scientific and research projects.
It is noteworthy that the aim of registering these strains is to document the isolated strains from Iraq in the global gene bank database, to be adopted globally compared to researchers from different countries of the world.
