Barakat Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) station for fattening calves increases its production capacity

The Department of Agricultural Affairs and livestock of Al-Kafeel company for public investments, one of the companies of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, announced the increase of its production capacity of fattening calves at the Barakat Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) station, to contribute to supporting and promoting livestock and the national economy.

"The increase in production came according to a plan that the station is going on, under the supervision of the department and the management of the company and above it the general secretariat of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, as our production capacity this year reached (500) calves after that we produced last year (289) calves, while in the beginning in 2019 we produced only (40) calves, and we continue until we reach (2000) calves".

He added that "the increase and expansion of production was not limited to the number only, but through the quality of the original Iraqi breeds and their preservation, in addition to increasing the number of halls and the introduction of modern and sophisticated mechanisms and methods in breeding and fattening calves".

He explained that "the source of calves is through the Breeders of calves from farmers in the Iraqi provinces, and are selected according to certain specifications and according to specific ages under the supervision of a committee of veterinarians and specialists in this field, bringing calves according to their ages and distributed to the three halls consisting of the station to suit each age, starting with the small and then medium age and finally reached the stage of marketing".

"The calves station has many advantages, the most important of which are the modern breeding mechanisms and the followed diet, a system placed under the supervision of specialists as the feed is pure vegetarian from the production of our farms, and there is a mixture of our own without adding any dietary supplements or fattening chemicals, and the amount of food given based on the weight of calves, as the amount of food that must be provided to the calves based on the amount of daily weight that must be gained".

"In addition, there is veterinary care through continuous periodic examinations of the calves of the station, to follow up on their condition and treat any symptom in a timely manner through veterinarians," he said.

He stressed " the project is characterized by its dependence on fattening local calves and not relying on imported, in addition to the fattening period of (3-4) months, after which the finest types of fresh meat are subject to approved Health controls are marketed to:

First- Host restaurant of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to provide meals to the visitors.

Second- The center of Noor Al-Kafeel Company for animal products in all its branches in the provinces.

Third- Directly to the consumer through a number of butcherers at subsidized prices, which contributed to fill part of the local need for the province of Karbala and a number of neighboring provinces".
