Extensive cleaning campaign for the roof of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him)

Since the early hours of dawn on Wednesday, the staff of the Department of care of the holy shrine began an extensive campaign to clean and the roof of the holy shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).

Assistant head of the Department, Mr. Zain al-Abidin al-Quraishi, stated to Al-Kafeel Network that "the cleaning and reorganization works are part of an expanded campaign that we started with the Holy dome and the minarets of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), and included all the roof area of the sanctuary and courtyard, and this campaign is one of the seasonal campaigns conducted by the staff of our department, but as a result of recent volatile weather conditions, we intensified them during this period".

He added, "the campaign aims to preserve and sustain the roof, and started from the areas near the base of the dome and the two minarets of the holy shrine, passing through the roof of the sanctuary and finally the roof of the courtyard and its surroundings, including:

- The roof of the holy sanctuary.

- Domes of the roof of the courtyard.

- Spaces between domes and glass tents.

- Cooling systems and accessories from the outside.

- The signs erected on the gates of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).

- Rearrange the joints of the whole space.

- Carry out the work of spot detection of the roof during the cleaning work, from the possibility of any accidental occurrence and inform the relevant authorities".



"We started these works after Fajr prayers, to ensure that the cooling system that installed on the roof are switched off, because this time the number of visitors is reduced, which does not affect them, in addition to the lack of exposure of the team in charge of these works to the hot sunlight," Al-Quraishi said.

He concluded that "the works were carried out using special cleaning materials, following methods that do not affect the building, and restore its luster and cleanliness after removing dust from it".
