Umm al-Baneen (peace be upon her) women electronic University in Najaf, affiliated to the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department at the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine, launched the activities of the Umm al-Baneen (peace be upon her) prize for the Holy Quran and religious reporting, which is organized for the first time and is the first initiative and the largest women award in Iraq.

The president of the University, Sheikh Hussein al-Turabi, stated to Al-Kafeel Network that "the award and the activities of the competition came as a celebration, honor and reward for those who have spent their lives in the service of religion and promoting its teachings during their Quranic and reporting work, and in honor of the Great Eid of Allah, Eid al-Ghadeer.

"Our university has been and continues to be the forerunner to provide everything that would encourage women's Quranic and missionary work, and this award, which we announce the launch of its activities now, is only one of the manifestations of interest and encouragement of women's work in our country," he added.

"The prize will be awarded to the best (35) female figures in (12) of its branches, and the prize awarded to each winner is the Shield of the University, a sum of money and a set of blessed gifts from the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him)," al-Turabi said.

He explained, "the branches of the award in its session this year are: the sciences of the Holy Quran and its interpretation, memorizing the Holy Quran, religious reporting, recitation of the Holy Quran, teachers of the Holy Quran, students of the Holy Quran, creativity and Quranic excellence, creativity and excellence of reporting, hawza professors, hawza students, reward of honoring the Holy Quran and reward of honoring religious reporting".

He added that "to receive the award, it is required that the participant be officially nominated, and provide the award administration with proof of this with an official letter from one of the Quranic or reporting institutions".

He pointed out that "the selection mechanism will be by relying on the nomination of the institutions concerned with each of its branches as the first stage, followed by the evaluation of the award jury (a scientific committee specialized in the Quranic and reporting fields, which will consider and judge the applications)".

It is noteworthy that the award was named after the Umm al-Baneen (peace be upon her) after the name of this great lady, which is the same name that the university is also honored to carry, and the award is a set of awards granted to several categories in recognition of the women efforts that are provided in various fields to serve the Holy Quran and religious communication.
