The sewing division of the gifts and vows department at the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine announced the completion of the formation and sewing of the hussayni mourning banners, which will be spread throughout the holy shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), in preparation for the reception of the month of Sorrows; the holy month of Muharram.
The official of the said Division, Mr. Abd al-Zahra Daoud Salman, explained to Al-Kafeel Network that "these works, which the staff of our division are honored to accomplish every year, went through many stages starting from taking measurements of the places where they will be placed, then the design and implementation, and up to the follow-up of installation works according to each piece and its specific location".
He added that "every year there is an addition to what is formed and embroidered from these works, and our addition to this sorrowful season is to allocate a space for pieces embroidered with the names of the children and people of the House of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and his companions, which will be placed in the Iwans' facades of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, in addition to the main phrases".
Abd al-Zahra pointed out that "the banners of grief were lined and embroidered with hadiths, slogans and phrases related to this occasion, and which lines and phrases were selected in addition to decorations and inscriptions, as well as black flags, including the banner of the holy Dome".
He concluded, "the works included sewing 200 rolls of fabric (length) surrounding the Holy Courtyard, in addition to banners of various sizes and lengths, including some with a length of (13 m × 6 m) and other banners of multiple lengths. -we used manual and electronic methods to install fonts, inscriptions and decorations, by modern and advanced machines".
It is noteworthy that the sewing work goes through several stages, such as conducting a field inspection of the sites and spaces where the banners of grief will be hung, preparing the appropriate fabric according to the need and the type of each work, in addition to preparing designs for each space, choosing fonts and designing inscriptions for all spaces according to the location of each piece and sign.
