Center for African studies: we will commemorate the martyrdom of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) in 13 African countries

The Center for African Studies of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine announced that it has developed a plan to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam al-Hussayn, his family and companions (peace be upon them), in (13) countries on the continent of Africa.

The director of the center, Sheikh Saad Sattar al-Shammari, stated to Al-Kafeel Network that "the center has prepared a plan to commemorate Ashura in the following countries (Senegal, Ghana, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Mali, Nigeria, Madagascar, Mauritania, Cameroon, Niger, Benin, Ivory Coast), through the establishment of condolence councils, events and various condolence activities, in addition to the establishment of Quranic sessions and Khatmas".

He added that "the center used to hold Hussayni condolence councils annually in African countries, but this year it differed by expanding the scope of their establishment to include many African countries and cities, and this came on the instructions of His Eminence the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and its general secretariat".

Al-Shammari concluded that "the mourning councils and events will continue during the months of Muharram and Safar, and many community groups will benefit from them, under the slogan that the remembrance of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and his affliction is a revival of authentic Mohammadian Islam, and a revival of the command of Allah Almighty".
