A medical team at Al-Kafeel Hospital succeeds in removing fibroids from the spinal canal without surgery

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital has successfully performed a non-surgical catheterization of the spinal canal to remove fibroids from a previous operation.

Dr. Eman al-Haidari, a specialist in pain medicine, said that "a patient from Basra province visited us at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital, suffering from back pain, and after reviewing his medical history, it turned out that he had surgery a year ago to remove a herniated disc between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae".

"The improvement continued for three months, after which the pain returned doubly, and the diagnosis of the case was that it was a case of postoperative fibrosis, which is one of the cases in which the solution is to make a catheter to the spinal canal to loosen the fibrosis," she added.

"This procedure is safe and non-surgical, as it is performed under the vision of sonar and radiology using local anesthesia, and the improvement rate was more than 90 percent," Al-Haidari pointed out.
