Restoring sight to a diabetic patient at Al-Kafeel Hospital

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital succeeded in restoring sight to a diabetic patient who lost her sight after suffering retinal damage.

The eye surgeon, Dr. Haider Abbas, said that we examined a 35-year-old woman suffering from damage to the eyes, and it turned out that she had diabetes, which led to retinal detachment in the eyes.

He added that this lady has completely lost her sight and depends on others for mobility and movement, so we performed an operation to cut the vitreous fluid and completely remove the fibroids on the surface of the retina.

Abbas pointed out that there was no hole in the retina during the operation and we did not have to put silicone inside the eye, saying that the patient's vision will return and she will live normally.
