Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine completes the establishment of a palm farm on an area of 120 dunams

The staffs of the Sidr model farm in Karbala, belonging to the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, have completed the cultivation of 120 dunums of palm trees.
Mr. Ameer Hussein, the farm manager, said that two hundred palm trees of various sizes and different types were planted on an area of 120 dunams as a first stage, adding, "their presence will be invested by planting fruit trees such as figs, pomegranates and citrus fruits under their shade".

He added that "the cultivated varieties varied between al-Zahdi, al-Khastawi, al-Tabarzel, and al-Mutawaq, and the length of these palms is up to two meters, and because the soil of the farm is of sandy nature, we added nutrients from Khair Al-Joud company, including Humic, which helps trees absorb food to help them grow faster".

Regarding the goal of establishing the farm, Hussein explained that "increasing green spaces, reducing the rate of desertification in the holy city of Karbala, employing labor in addition to supplying local markets with dates is an endeavor that the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine pays great attention to".
