The completion of most of the grid pieces of the new shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) ..

In order to take the full course of the work in this project and as part of its communicative duty, Al-Kafeel's Network paid a visit to the shrines' grid factory belonging to the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine in order to meet its official, the goldsmith Raad Hussein Al-Khafaji, who told us:

"With pure hearts and feelings honestly expressing the longing to serve our Master Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), the executives of shrines' grid factory continue their operative work to build up the new grid of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, investing all their potential and energy in order to make the new grid more beautiful and distinct, thanks to its strength, durability and other qualities rarely found in other shrines' grids, trying to complete it as soon as possible. "

He added saying: "After more than 16 months, we achieved the completion of most of the holy grid pieces, including the side columns with its upper crown and its Interior vase, which will help us start directly the installation of the rest of the pieces performed in earlier periods on the wooden structure, which was installed in a special hall at the plant, according to a mechanism to be followed in a timely manner. "

As for the pieces' main technical specifications that have been completed, namely: (the side column with its annexes of the bottom vase upon which it is based on, and the upper crown which overlies this column), The side columns of the shrine's grid are four, each of them weighs 30 kg, with 2m of length and a radius of 10 cm, and a thickness of 6 to 7 mm.

One of the additions of the new shrine's grid, is the bottom vase that was previously of alabaster and we replaced it with a new silver one that weighs 4 kg, with a height of 30cm and a thickness of 6 to 8 mm. It has been designed with harmony with the rest of the lower crowns' hoops, in a very magnificent design and implementation.

As for the upper crowns of each column, we took into account the same specifications and execution's accuracy followed in the rest of the grid's pieces, it weighs, according to Mr. Al-Khafaji, 2,5 kg, with a length of 21 cm, a thickness of 5mm, and a radius of 10 cm.

He added saying: " The thickness of these pieces is six times the thickness of the old ones. This enhancement was due to the increase in raw material manufactured of pure silver 999 calibre, mixed with a 2% of 24 carat gold in order to give it a specific lustre and to prolong its lifetime.
And for the highest results in terms of matching the plant patterns and other design's engravings, for the first time the factory, in the sake of a best working map, has commissioned the finest calligraphers and the more skilled painters in Iraq.
It is to mention that we kept for the new grid the same overall structure and engravings of the current one, with few additions, upgrades and modifications, because of its uniqueness design comparing to the grids of the whole world's holy shrines.

Note that the current grid was made in 1964 with funding from the supreme religious authority - at the time - The grand Ayatollah Sayed Mohsen Al-Hakeem (May Allah have mercy on him). "

It is also worth noting that the General Secretary of Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, Sayed Ahmad As-Safi has said earlier : "After that we were honoured to serve the holy shrines, we found that the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine's grid had more than forty years, which damaged some of its parts, and maybe a partial maintenance wouldn't last long, this why we decided of renewing it, respecting the same accurate art specifications of the old grid.
The funding of this project was made with the participation of the holy shrine's visitors, that are coming from different countries such as Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, India, Golf countries and all different nationalities' lovers of Ahl Al-Bayt (Peace be upon them), and we deny all rumours claiming that the new Holy shrine's grid is made outside of Iraq, as we are proud that only Iraqi hands are working on it, thanks to their sufficient experience and brilliant professionalism.
