Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine organizes the first annual conference on Sustainable Development Goals

The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, in partnership with the Ministry of Planning, organized the first annual conference on the Sustainable Development Goals, Local Experiences and success stories in implementing the 2030 Agenda.

The conference, which was held on Wednesday, under the slogan" the welfare of the future by protecting the present", witnessed the presence of the secretary-general of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and a number of its officials in addition to government and academic figures.

The conference included a speech by the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, delivered by its board member, Dr. Abbas Rashid al-Mousawi, in which he stressed that the projects of the holy shrine are at the heart of the goals of sustainable development and achieving peace and well-being for society.

It was followed by a speech to the Iraqi Ministry of planning delivered by the director general of the Regional Development Department at the Ministry, Dr. Mohammed Mohsen al-Sayed, during which he stressed the benefit from the successful experiences of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine in the investment of the desert.

In her speech at the conference, Dr. Ban Ali, an expert at the Ministry of Planning, presented the 2030 Agenda for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, stressing that these goals are a global call to action to eradicate poverty, protect the Earth's environment and climate, and ensure that people everywhere enjoy peace and prosperity through partnerships to achieve sustainable development.

The head of the development and sustainable development department at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Jaber, during his participation in the conference, highlighted the projects of the holy shrine that are working on to achieve sustainable development, through 45 economic projects, 90 knowledge projects, and 91 service projects.

In the speech of the al-Ain foundation for Social Welfare during the conference, Dr. Mustafa Khaled from the foundation shared the experience of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the foundation and its humanitarian and social projects, stressing the continuous pursuit of achieving these goals based on the Islamic and humanitarian vision.

The conference included a video presentation on the projects of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and presented its experience in the field of sustainable development.
