The twelfth edition of the Annual Martyrdom Festival has been launched at Wasit university, organized by various institutions in cooperation with the holy shrines, including the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.
The festival was held on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima az-Zahra (peace be upon her).
Wasit University President Dr. Mazen al-Hassani said that the Twelfth Annual Martyrdom Festival lasts for 12 days and includes many religious and cultural events in cooperation with various university faculties".
He added that the events also include morning and evening seminars, an exhibition of books and precious materials of the Al-Abbas's (p) shrine, a flower exhibition and Quranic programs, and an international conference will be held within the events with the participation of more than 60 researchers from Iraqi and Arab universities and research centers.
For his part, Sheikh Ali al-Saidi, one of the staffs of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, said that a number of lecturers from the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the holy shrine participated in the festival's activities with lectures given to college students on religious and ideological issues, stressing that it witnessed great interaction by students with the scientific materials provided to them.
The festival will continue for twelve days, interspersed with educational and informative lectures for students at the university, to highlight the blessed biography of Lady az-Zahra (peace be upon her) in academic institutions.
