The Al-Kafeel's Museum holds the second session in documenting and storing Heritage's collectibles ..

The Museum of Al-Kafeel for valuables and manuscripts belonging to the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine established its second specialized session for the staff of the General Authority for Heritage and Antiquities of the Iraqi Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

This session that lasted five days included documentation methods, carpets' maintenance and methods to conserve it, as well as the mechanisms used in preventive maintenance for archaeological and Heritage collectibles.

These sessions fall within the framework of the continuous cooperation between the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and the General Authority for Heritage and Antiquities in order to create a case of experiences' exchange which contributes to develop and hone the Iraqi employees' talents and abilities.

The Head of the Museum's Department, Mr. Sadiq Lazem explained to the Al-Kafeel's Network:
“This session that falls within the framework of cooperation between the General Authority for Heritage and Antiquities and the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine is held in order to exchange informations and experiences, and to benefit from the accumulated experience of the Al-Kafeel's Museum's staff, especially in the field of carpets and valuables' maintenance. in addition to that brothers in the Heritage Department would like to benefit from the experience of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine regarding storage of valuables in the Al-Kafeel's Museum and the mechanisms in place to preserve them.”

He added: " The General Director of the Heritage's Department, Dr. Fawzia Al-Maliki has visited the Al-Kafeel's Museum for valuables and manuscripts and has seen the potential and the existing expertise among museum staff, therefore under her request the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine approve to implement all necessary measures to organize sessions in where the Heritage's Department's employees were admitted on two groups, aiming many fields such as the inventory and the documentation of the Museum's heritage stocks and how to work their database, in addition to the methods of storage and maintenance especially carpets' maintenance. "

It is noteworthy that Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine evaluates and sponsors many courses and seminars in various disciplines, including this session, in order to contribute to raising the level of cultural and scientific affiliates, in particular, and other institutions in general.
