More than 10,000 trees were planted in the streets of the holy city of Karbala..

Within the afforestation project of the holy city of Karbala which started four years ago, the agriculture division of the services' department belonging to the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine began since five days implanting trees in the eastern entrance of the city of Karbala (street of Bab Tweyreej) from the bridge of imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) to Assalam's bridge.

Commensurate with the sanctity and the position of the city of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), this project comes to show the holy city of Karbala in its best and most beautiful images.

The head of services' department, Alhaj Khaleel Mahdi Henoon explained to the Al-Kafeel's Network:
"After the completion of planting trees in many of Karbala's streets, we started the afforestation of the eastern entrance of the holy city of Karbala (Bab Tweyreej), where the agriculture division planted more than 400 clove trees with a certain kind of Acacia, which are big trees that have the ability to resist the hot weather of Karbala.”
He added: “The number of the planted seedlings within the afforestation project of the holy city of Karbala is more than ten thousand trees. The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine ensure the watering and gardening of these trees, that can be five years old with a height of (2,5 to 3m) in order to give the impression to the viewer that the street is treed since years""

It is worth mentioning that the Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine set up the afforestation project which is being carried out exclusively by its own workers, and most of the planted seedlings are produced in the holy shrine's nursery.
