Al-Abbas's (P) Holy Shrine is moving towards taking advantage of renewable energy in its educational projects

The Engineering Projects Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine confirmed the trend to take advantage of renewable energy in educational projects to reduce the pressure on the National Electricity System and improve the environmental reality.

Engineer Firas Abbas Hamza, head of the Communications Division of the Department, said that " the alternative energy system at the Al-Ameed Educational Complex provided the energy needed by the complex, especially critical systems, without the need for generators, which reduced the pressure on the National Electricity System, and enhanced the reduction of harmful emissions and improved the environmental reality."

"The complex, which consists of eight buildings, has systems with critical loads that require continuous power, such as cameras, alarms, fire, fresh and heavy water pumps, and others, as previously reliance was on generators that provide the energy that these systems need,"he added.

He pointed out that"the size of the solar system and the strength of the sun's Rays enabled it to generate surplus energy to supply the schools of the Al-Ameed group, while the surplus goes back to the National Network, and this contributes to increasing the efficiency of generation".

After the success of alternative energy systems at Al-Kafeel University, the holy shrine decided, according to Hamza, to repeat the experience with its other educational institutions, by implementing a huge solar energy system at the Al-Ameed Educational Complex in Karbala.

According to the official of the Communications Division, the roofs of the buildings were covered with seven layers of white color, to raise the productivity of solar cells and reduce the pressure on their batteries, as well as to protect the floor of the complex and not need maintenance for a period of 15-25 years.
