The book is one of the most important means of dissemination of culture and knowledge, highlighting the role of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala, which is one of the most important gatherings of writers through the participation of publishing houses and cultural and intellectual institutions. This is what stated the Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (Peace be upon him) Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalai during the opening ceremony of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala, which opened Wednesday morning (28 Rajab 1435 AH) corresponding to (28 May 2014).

He added: "This fair is an opportunity to brief the intellectuals, writers and the various segments of the community on the latest intellectual and cultural publications of the different publishing houses, it also contributes to encouraging people to read by offering a wide selection of the best books at suitable prices. "

And Sheikh Karbalai explained: "We are going through a significant period which needs to entrench the culture of a love of reading in the hearts and minds of citizens, especially that the dissemination of culture and knowledge contributes into rooting the genuine and sincere spirit of citizenship, which we desperately need in the present day for the good of our country. "

He added: "The holy shrines of imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) through the supervising committee of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala have provided all the supplies and mobilized all the efforts to bring out an international book exhibition that commensurate with the sanctity of the city and the status of both holy shrines within the available resources."

It is noteworthy that the Karbala International Book Fair is one of the events of the International Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring organized and funded integrally by the General Secretaries of both Holy Shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) since its inception nine years ago, to commemorate the birth of the grandson of our saint Prophet (May Allah pray on him and his pure lineage) Imam Aba Abdillah Al-Hussayn and his brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-abbas (peace be upon them).
