The opening of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala held by both Holy Shrines within the events of the Tenth International Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring..

The Courtyard of Saint Zaynab (peace be upon her) belonging to the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) witnessed during Wednesday morning (28 Rajab 1435 AH) corresponding to (28 May 2014) the opening ceremony of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala organized within the events of the Tenth International Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring, which will be held on the third of the holy month of Shaaban.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (Peace be upon him) Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalai and the governor of Karbala Mr. Aqeel Al-Turaihi in addition to a number of officials of the holy Shrines and a number of personalities from inside and outside Iraq.

The Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (Peace be upon him) Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalai explained to the Al-Kafeel Glebal Network: “The book is one of the most important means of dissemination of culture and knowledge, highlighting the role of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala, which is one of the most important gatherings of writers through the participation of publishing houses and cultural and intellectual institutions.” (And to follow up the rest of his speech, click here)

The governor of the holy Karbala Mr. Aqeel Al-Turaihi, in his turn, explained the following: “This exhibition contributes significantly to giving back to the holy city of Karbala its pioneering role, that the oppressing regime tried to blur, thus the holy city of Karbala were and is still the source of knowledge and culture for intellectuals and writers.” (And to follow up the rest of his speech, click here)

Mr. Moyassar Akram Al-Hakeem the Director of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala stated in a previous interview with the Al-KAfeel Global Network: "an estimated space of more than (2650 m2) was established in the courtyard of Saint Zaynab (peace be upon her) in the form of two large halls, split into more than 140 portions/ sections for almost 180 Publishing Houses."

It is noteworthy that the Karbala International Book Fair is one of the events of the International Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring organized and funded integrally by the General Secretaries of both Holy Shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) since its inception nine years ago, to commemorate the birth of the grandson of our saint Prophet (May Allah pray on him and his pure lineage) Imam Aba Abdillah Al-Hussayn and his brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-abbas (peace be upon them). The number of the participating countries in the previous editions was more than 50 Arab and foreign countries.
