The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine accorded great importance to the acquisition of real estate (in consensual format), and to its demolition and removing the ruins, in order to provide larger areas for the service of visitors within the horizontal expansion project of the holy shrine, taking into account the continuation of work on a good frequency, without influencing the smooth flow of visitors.


It is mentioned that the acquisition of land and real estate surrounding the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, as directed by the Supreme religious authority in Najaf is made by mutual consent with the owners, giving additional time for shop owners to enable them to discharge their wares, in a formal way according to the legal contexts, and being according to the decision of the Council of Ministers No. 315 of 2009, and to the procedures of expropriation carried out according to the law of expropriation No. 12 for the year 1981, which offers a lot of encouraging actions, such as the exemption of the seller from land tax, amounting to from 3 % to 6 % of the allowance of the property, as well as the exemption from the transition fee by up 2.5% of the allowance, in addition to the speed in procedures' treatment, and delivering the replacing properties without delay .
