The holy shrines announce the end of the activities of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala..

The Courtyard of Saint Zaynab (peace be upon her) belonging to the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) witnessed during Sunday afternoon 9th of Sha'ban 1435 AH corresponding to 8th of June 2014 the closing ceremony of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala organized within the events of the Tenth International Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring, and which was held for ten days.

The closing ceremony which was set up by the organizing committee of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala, was attended by members of the Board of Directors of the two holy shrines, heads of departments and representatives of the participating publishing houses in the exhibition, which were honoured for their distinguished participation.

Sayed Ja'far Al-Musawi presented the word of the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them), where he thanked all those who participated and contributed to the success of this important cultural event, which is hosted and funded by both holy shrines that are having a great role in the dissemination of culture, and which became an enlightening intellectual and cultural centre for all Muslims.

Mr. Moyassar Akram Al-Hakeem the Director of the Tenth International Book Fair of Karbala also stated that the tenth edition of Karbala book fair was marked by the number of the participating publishing houses from more than ten countries exhibiting different disciplines and fields, not only through religious books, but also through the academic, cultural and scientific areas as well as those related to children, women and society ... Noting that this year an estimated space of more than (2465 m2) was established in the courtyard of Saint Zaynab (peace be upon her) in the form of three large halls, split into sections for each stand. The number of visitors of the exhibition exceeded daily 5000, and 10000 visitors during the peak days, which is a great indicator for the success of this edition of the book fair. Adding that from the additions of this year, also the participation of the holy shrines and sanctuaries from inside and outside Iraq."

The ceremony was concluded with the distribution of shields of appreciation to the outstanding stands and then certificates of appreciation to the participating publishers.

It is noteworthy that the Karbala International Book Fair is one of the events of the International Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring organized and funded integrally by the General Secretaries of both Holy Shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) since its inception nine years ago, to commemorate the birth of the grandson of our saint Prophet (May Allah pray on him and his pure lineage) Imam Aba Abdillah Al-Hussayn and his brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-abbas (peace be upon them). The number of the participating countries in the previous editions was more than 50 Arab and foreign countries.
