Al-Wafi Foundation and UN team discuss ways to document ISIL crimes

The al-Wafi Foundation for Documentation and Studies at the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine discussed with the United Nations team ways to document The Crimes of ISIL terrorist gangs, during the visit of the delegation of the terrorist crimes Documentation Center at the United Nations headed by the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Adviser and Head of the Investigative Team established pursuant to Security Council resolution 2379 (2017), to promote accountability efforts for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Da’esh/ISIL; Mr. Christian Ritscher, to the al-Wafi Foundation for Documentation and Studies at the holy shrine.

The president of the al-Wafi Foundation; Mr. Ahmed Sadek, said that"the visit of the United Nations team came to discuss how information and experiences will be exchanged, and work to document these crimes at the United Nations as war crimes, supported by all the evidence, details, documents and accompanying photos and videos, and support this issue and make it a proven international issue at the United Nations".

He added that"the Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine is one of the first to seek the documentation, especially after 2014, as it opened many institutions and centers dealing with documentation, and has issued a set of encyclopedias such as the Encyclopedia of the Fatwa of efficient defense and the Speicher encyclopedia, to document the crimes that occurred during the liberation of Iraq from terrorist gangs.

He explained that"the visit is part of a series of ongoing visits to some bodies and institutions interested in documentation, in order to discuss with the al-Wafi Foundation and the Iraqi Center for documentation of extremist crimes affiliated to the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine, and to extend bridges of cooperation to achieve the best possible service in the field of documentation".

Sadiq pointed out that "the team was briefed on how the Center works and the method of documentation at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine," stressing that "the Al-Abbas's (p) shrine through the al-Wafi Center was able to deliver its message of documentation to the United Nations."

For his part, the head of the UN investigation team, Mr. Christian Ritscher, expressed his admiration for the work of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine, saying "I am very impressed by the work carried out by the Iraqi Documentation Center at the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine, and this is a good effort and a wonderful work, and we will see what can be done on this subject in order to exchange information and benefit from both parties."
