The delegation of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine presented its own vision during its participation in the climate change and security conference, held by the House of Representatives in the capital Baghdad.
The representative of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine and the head of the Sustainable Development and Development Department, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Jaber, said that "the delegation of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine, during its participation in the climate change and food security conference, which was held by the Iraqi Council of Representatives, with the participation of academic and political figures and a number of organizations concerned with this matter, has presented its vision of the problems of climate change and how to develop possible solutions, which must be followed to face climate change and its effects on food security in Iraq and the region.
He added,"during the conference, we put forward the vision of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine by adopting the National constant represented by faith in the national capabilities and Iraqi cadres in the completion of projects, including sustainable development projects to face climate change, as well as focusing on the establishment of distinctive and pioneering projects in terms of type, both in terms of the type of project and its products or in terms of technologies used in it."
He continued, "We also reviewed the projects of the Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine, which amounted to about 150 projects on the theme of the conference, and divided them into three groups, all of which proceed from the postulates of Environmental Conservation, whether in terms of design and the use of natural materials or environmentally friendly technologies used in them, or energy-saving smart devices, which were divided into several groups, the first of which was about Green Belt development projects and green spaces, the second specialized in energy projects, both of which involved the investment of water and electricity resources through technical solutions, while the third group focused on providing healthy food and its diversity (animal and vegetable)".
The participation of the delegation of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine, represented by the head of the development and sustainable development department, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Jaber, and engineer Haider Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, associate director of Al-Liwaa international company, won the admiration of the audience and their applause in appreciation, and the conference organizers thanked the Shrine's delegation for its active participation, and quite a few entities and companies contacted the Shrine's delegation after the end of the session to communicate and exchange experiences.
The conference included two discussion sessions, the first was entitled Climate Change and national security, and the first axis specialized in concepts and strategies, and was moderated by the expert in Water Resources Management, Dr. Sameh Wissam Al-Maqdadi, with the participation of MP Abbas Zamili, chairman of the parliamentary security and Defense Committee, National Security Adviser Qasem al-A'raji and Ms. Jill house, technical advisor for water security and health at the international relief organization, in addition to Dr. Ali Rashid Khushnaw, chairman of the Erbil governorate council in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The second axis of the first session, entitled (experiences from reality), also witnessed the participation of Prof. Dr. Bruder Merkel, a water expert at the Technical University of Freiburg, Dr. Baqer Sadiq Jawad, water resources advisor at the Office of the prime minister of Iraq, and Ms. Sibal Jamil Siddiq, water and environment advisor at UNICEF.
The second discussion session of the conference was entitled Climate Change: Agriculture, Economy and food security, the first of which was about concepts and strategies, moderated by the economist at the College of Business Administration at the American University of Sharjah, Prof. Dr. Yas Al-Khafaji, with the participation of MP Faleh al-Khazali, chairman of the parliamentary committee on agriculture, water and marshes, Ms. Anne Contez, senior consultant at the international relief organization in the United States, engineer Zulfikar Houshi, captain of Engineers in Iraq, and Mr. Amang Herki, member of the parliamentary electricity and energy committee.
The second axis of the second session focused on the concept of experiments from reality, with the participation of Professor Jamie Leed, a specialist in Environmental Health Sciences at the University of South Carolina in the United States of America, Dr. Mohammed Hassan Jaber, head of the development and sustainable development department at the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine, and Ms. Basma Abdul Rahman, CEO of Kesk green solutions.
