Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine: insulting the Holy Quran is deliberately hurting feelings of two billion Muslims

The member of the board of Directors of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Dr. Abbas al-Dadah al-Mousawi, confirmed that the abuse of the Holy Quran is deliberately hurting the feelings of two billion Muslims, and a provocation to their stability.

"The abuse of the Holy Quran is deliberately hurting the feelings of two billion Muslims, and it is a provocation to their stability, because it is a new folly committed against them on a holy occasion for them, which is the first day of Eid al-Adha in the Hajj season, a folly that touches their sacred values at the core," al-Mousawi said in a statement to the News Center.

He added that "these behaviors do not fall within the freedom of expression, and the first to reject them is the principles of respect for (the diversity of people's beliefs) that humanity has reconciled to, and what it has stood against are good global efforts to renounce division, sectarianism and racism".

The member of the board of Directors of the Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine stated that "the incident of burning the Holy Quran should not go without accountability, because it is an intellectual terrorism that is no different from any form of hateful terrorism, and we demand here, as demanded by our higher authority in its letter to the secretary-general of the United Nations; to take effective steps to prevent the recurrence of such, and to reconsider the legislation that allows it".

Al-Mousawi continued by saying, "we follow the example of our Religious Authority; Sayed al-Sistani, and we invite to establish the values of peaceful coexistence between the followers of different religions and intellectual approaches, and that this should be based on the care of rights and mutual respect between all".
