The Heritage Center of Karbala holds a panel discussion around how to preserve the heritage of Karbala..

The Heritage Center of Karbala that belongs to the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, has held a panel discussion around how to preserve and sustain the architectural heritage of the holy city of Karbala, which includes the old and archaeological buildings and houses of historical figures.

The centre welcomed Prof. Dr Adel Zyadah, the specialist in the heritage, monuments and Islamic architecture art at the Cairo University, who attended the meeting with a number of experts and specialists in architectural and archaeological heritage, where they discussed views and thoughts on how to save the ancient archaeological and architectural heritage that characterized the holy city of Karbala.

The director of the Heritage Center of Karbala, Mr. Ihsan Al-Ghreyfi: "the idea of the establishment of this centre is to preserve the heritage of this holy city, as Karbala is loved by millions around the world, from Muslims and non-Muslims who have visited it."

Dr. Adel Zyadah the specialist in the heritage and monuments explained the following: "We must unite all efforts and especially the efforts of the intellectuals in order to preserve what remains of this ancient heritage, to present to the whole world the great heritage of this holy city that is unequalled in the Islamic world in particular and in the whole world in general. Therefore, we are facing a difficult task in how to preserve the heritage of Karbala."

He added: "Consequently, there must be a scientific plan at first so that we can preserve this heritage, a plan that is divided into two parts, the first is recording the remaining heritage (architectural and intellectual heritage), and the second is the fact that the intellectuals of Karbala must proclaim the establishment of national museum for the city of Karbala, and also the dissemination of the culture and heritage of Karbala, By spreading awareness of heritage in the community, especially in schools and universities."

It is worth to note that the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has established this centre in order to preserve the heritage of the holy city of Karbala and work to devote all efforts in order to preserve and maintain this heritage, in addition to other centres in the city of Hilla and Basra
