In continuation of the field visits to the battlefront undertaken by the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, its delegation visited the area of Latifiyah that belongs to Al-Mahmoodiyah district of Baghdad; the Iraqi capital, located 35 km to the south.
The head of the delegation, Mr. Hussein Fa'ez Al-Shahrustani explained to the Global Al-Kaffel Network: "The delegation has visited three regions in the mentioned area that are: "Shakhah one, Shakhah two, Shakha three) where are located a number of volunteers of the popular mobilization from the people of Wasit province who answered the call of the supreme religious authority to defend Iraq, its people and its sanctities."
Noting: "The aim of these visits is to provide moral and logistic support for these units, as the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine proceeded to provide some dry food such as rice, pulses and vegetable oil in addition to mineral water and juices."
In accordance with the guidance of the Supreme Religious Authority, the delegation of the holy shrine has handed to these units, a number of Iraqi flags to be raised on their headquarters and their units, and urging them to not raise any other banner than Iraqi flag.
It is to mention that both holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them) and since the issuance of the advisory opinion (fatwa) of the Supreme Religious Authority for the sufficient duty (wujub Kifa'i) of jihad, begun to provide logistical support to the military segments of the army and volunteers, in addition to the displaced families from their home areas within the available resources.
And it is worth noting that the formation of this troop came in response to the call of the religious authority, and as a result of the increasing number of volunteers in the province of Karbala that the current volunteers' centres could not accommodate, the Commission of the popular crowd in the province that is affiliated to the board of the popular crowd of the country set up by the prime ministry, additional volunteers' centres have been opened in coordination with the General Secretariat of the holy shrine of Al-Abbas (peace be upon him). These centres will be a nucleus to form a squad to defend and protect the holy city, with the name of “Squad of Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) that will engage within the formations of the security and the military services, and will work under their supervision, as confirmed by the supreme religious authority in the holy city of Najaf represented by Sayed Ali Al-Sistani.
Pointing out that registration centres of this troop are:
1 - Department of processions and Hussayni bodies in Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine.
2 - the headquarters of the regiment protecting the Two Holy Shrines.
