The head of the Department; Mr. Mo'een al-Husseini, said that "the Sewing Division of the Department began its work after the end of the Ziyarat Arba'een of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) last year, to prepare the signs of sadness and condolences for the holy month of Muharram".
He added that "banners of various sizes, large and small, have been prepared to cover the Courtyard of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and the outer perimeter of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, and the streets leading to the Holy Shrine".
For his part, the official of the Sewing Division in the Department; Sayed Abdul Zahra Dawood Salman, said that"the division began its work in agreement with the Holy Sanctuary Committee and calligrapher Mr. Mohammed al-Husseini by preparing a set of banners with the slogans of the month of Muharram written on them".
He added that "the large banners include the banner of (ya Saqi Atashi Karbala) measuring (13×6) meters, placed in the door of the Qibla and the door of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him), in addition to the banners of the Iwans measuring (2.95 x 50 cm), as well as the banners of the external columns measuring (9×1) meters, along with about (75) banners placed for the columns measuring (1×6) meters, and large banners measuring (19×6) meters outside the sanctuary".
The division carries out various other works, including sewing the suits of the staffs of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, the coolers of the Holy Sanctuary, as well as providing all departments of the holy shrine, such as the center of the Ias-Siddiqah al-Taherah, and stores with some signs to spread the manifestations of grief in the holy month of Muharram, as well as flags that are given as gifts to visitors, according to Salman.
