Many Zinjeel condolence processions for the people of Karbala flocked, on Thursday, to the Holy Shrine to commemorate the tragedy of at-Taf in an annual tradition that processions have been going on with the advent of the holy month of Muharram.
The head of the hussayni rites and processions department at the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; Sayed Aqeel Abdul Hussein al-Yasiri, said that "the mourning ceremonies, which concern the people of Karbala in the first ten days, is a custom of condolence that they have been keen to establish since ancient times and begins with the descent of the (Zinjeel) funeral processions".
He added that"the movement of the processions takes place according to an organized plan, marching through specific streets leading to the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) passing through its Holy Courtyard, and then leaving the gate of Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) to conclude at the shrine of the Lord of martyrs Imam Aba Abdullah al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), marching on a square between the Two Holy Shrines.
According to al-Yasiri, " teams from our department have been assigned to accompany the March of each procession from the moment it starts to its conclusion, being responsible to organize the March to avoid overcrowding, and depending on special routes to ensure that there is no intersection between one procession and another or with visitors."
For his part, Sayed Ahmad Fatimi, sponsor of the Fatimiya people procession, said that"we are keen to revive these rituals every year to remember what happened on the day of Ashura, and to renew the vow of steadfastness on the approach taken by the master of martyrs (peace be upon him)".
He added that the movement of the Processions is represented by gathering at a specific location and marching in the Zinjeel condolence procession, to conclude with the establishment of the mourning Council in the shrine of Master Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him)".
