Preparing 60 thousand flags for participants with the immortal Rite of Twayreej Run

The organizing committee of the hussayni bodies and processions announced the preparing of 60 thousand flags of Twayreej Run for participants in this immortal rite, in memory of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn and his family and companions(peace be upon them) in Ashura.

One of the organizers of the Ritual; Sayed Thamer al-Qazwini, said that " millions of followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) from inside and outside Iraq, participate every year in the commemoration of the mourning rite of the Twayreej Run," stressing "the preparation of more than 60 thousand flags and transfer them to the city of Karbala for distribution to the bodies and processions participating in the Run."

For his part, the official organizing the Twayreej Run; Sayed Yahya al-Bahrani, said that "the Hindiya District of Karbala governorate has been holding this Hussayni ritual since its establishment in 1885," explaining that "this idea was born after the fall of the previous regime, where a group of intellectuals of the city gathered and agreed that there should be a symbol of this run in green, and we took this flag measuring (45 × 90 cm) so that the young and old can rise it in the mourning".

"We started working in 2005 with a small number of 170 flags, which were sewn and printed in our homes, until this flag became raised in all Iraqi provinces and Islamic countries, such as Iran, Syria and some European countries where Iraqi communities are present, and the number increased until it reached 50 and 60 thousand,"he said.

In the same context, one of the members of the committee; Sayed Mahdi al-Bahrani, said, "We started installing flags on their masts to be packed and distributed to the 12 stations, starting from the gathering point of mourners at the arch of peace, which is the starting point of mourning, up to the Qibla street of the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).

The Ritual of Twayreej Run is characterized by great organization and huge mass attendance, and mourners carry their own banners and flags, which are in green embroidered with the phrase (Twayreej Run) and the slogan (Ya Hussein), and are prepared in one of the husseiniyats with wide participation from inside and outside the District, and are prepared until the occasion comes, which is the tenth day of Muharram.
