A delegation from the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and the fighting squad of Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) entered the besieged city of Amerli on the morning of Wednesday 30th of Shawwal 1435 AH corresponding to the 27th of August 2014, in coordination with the Air Army.

The head of the delegation and the board member of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, Mr. Maytham Al-Zaydi stated to the Al-Kafeel Global Network the following: "The delegation came to check the humanitarian situation in the city and discuss the ways to deliver to it the necessary humanitarian aid as soon as possible."

He added: "Also, there was a consultation and coordination with the military units stationed in the city to discuss how to deliver additional troops in order to lift the siege of the city and opening channels of communication between these forces and air army to eradicate the strongholds of terrorism."

Stressing: "What we have seen from the courage in the fighting and the high morale owned by the people of this city is a source of pride for all Iraqis, although with the small number of the soldiers and the lack of the means, but they stood firm in front of the attacks of terrorist groups and made them get heavy losses over two months, making these Takfiri gangs unable to penetrate their ranks despite the repeated attempts."

Stating that: "The city lives difficult humanitarian conditions, as the quantities of the received food and water is very small and is not adequate with the scale of the suffering experienced by the population. Not to mention the security aspect, as it is witnessing steadily, bombing of mortars by the terrorist groups, prompting the brothers in the city of Amerly to make the delegation moves to more than four places in one day for its safety, and despite the suffering experienced by the city and the imposed siege, the locals showed during the reception of the delegation heroic generosity."

And, Mr. Al-Zaydi concluded saying: "Insha-Allah, after the delegation's return to the holy city of Karbala, plans will be set up to change the reality in Amerly in the near future, and victory over those astray groups who, are trying to seize Iraq's cities will be achieved"

It is worth mentioning that Amerly is the centre city of the district of Tuz Khurmatu, and it is a beautiful town located on the valley of Kor Dorah that divides it, all its inhabitants are Shiite Muslims who, speak Turkmen. Amerly's population according to the statistics of 1997 is of 30173 inhabitants.
