The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine organized the Council of Hussayni condolences in the state of Nigeria.
The council was overseen by the Department's Center for African Studies.
The director of the Center for African Studies of the Department, Sheikh Saad Sattar al-Shammari, said that "the Center organized Hussayni Condolence Council in the Nigerian state of Kaduna, coinciding with the days of the holy month of Muharram and commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and his family and companions (peace be upon them)".
"The council included a raising the Holy Quran, in response to the extremist attacks on the book of Allah in Sweden and Denmark,"he added.
He continued, " the council witnessed the presence of a gathering of followers and lovers of Ahl al-Bayt(peace be upon them), and the rest of the followers of Islamic doctrines, to revive the tragedy of Imam al-Hussayn and his family and companions(peace be upon them)," indicating that "the attack on the Holy Quran is an attack on religion and humanity, and encroached on the truth in all its forms".
The condolence Council was held under the supervision of the Center's coordinator in the state of Nigeria; Sheikh Ibrahim Musa, and also comes within the programs dedicated to reviving Hussayni rituals on the African continent, under the auspices and follow-up of the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi.
