The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine commemorated the martyrdom of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be pon him) in the state of Sierra Leone.
The director of the Center for African Studies of the Department, Sheikh Saad Sattar al-Shammari, said that"the Central Husseini council was held in Devil Hall district in the state of Sierra Leone, and its activities included a speech by the Shiite cleric Sheikh Ahmed Muaz, who is one of the most prominent Shiite scholars in Sierra Leone, and a speech by the coordinator of the center in Sierra Leone, Sheikh Ibrahim Bah.
"The council witnessed the official presence of representatives of the state, religions and Islamic sects, along with a wide participation of followers and lovers of Ahl al-Bayt(peace be upon them),"he added.
According to Al-Shammari, the council included various events in commemoration of the hussayni rituals, and in remembrance of the tragedy of Imam al-Hussayn(peace be upon him) and his family, and the crimes and inhuman violations to which they were subjected in the year 61 AH.
