The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine held a Husseini condolence Council in commemoration of the Ashura tragedy in the Nigerian state of Kano.
The director of the Center for African Studies of the Department, Sheikh Saad Sattar al-Shammari, said that "the Center continues to organize funeral councils in the framework of reviving Husseini rituals and promoting cultural and spiritual awareness of the great human personality of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him)".
He added that "the council was attended by a group of religious figures, and a large gathering of followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and their lovers from various cities of Kano State and its regions,"pointing out that the coordinator of the center, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Tayeb participated with a lecture on the events of the at-Taf incident that occurred on the tenth of the month of Muharram."
Al-Shammari pointed out that"the Husseini council aimed to highlight the great personality of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and the spirit of sacrifice and altruism, pointing to the importance of transferring those noble human values and principles to new generations in the African continent, to promote the values of tolerance, coexistence and social peace in society".
