The people of Karbala celebrated the ceremony of the seventh day of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn and his family and companions (peace be upon them) in Ashura with a unified condolence procession.
"The people of Karbala used to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) since the beginning of the holy month of Muharram, until the seventeenth of Muharram, which marks the seventh day of his martyrdom (peace be upon him),"said Riad al-Salman, adviser of the Husseini processions at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.
He added that"the mourning of the people of Karbala has become an annual tradition that has been passed down through generations by the Sons of the province to offer condolences to Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) and revive the Husseini cause and convey its eternal principles and messages".
The procession started from the Mukhayyam street, entering the Husseini Courtyard, and passing through a square between the Two Holy Shrines, and the conclusion was in the Courtyard of Master Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) chanting slogans and elegies embodying parts of this painful tragedy.
