Al-Shami said that "the Green Belt project is one of the big projects of the city of Karbala, as the staffs of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine have made a special effort to serve and reconstruct it, in order to revive this area and its appearance in the optimal form that we see today".
He added that "the green belt used to be a source of security concern for neighboring neighborhoods, because it is abandoned, after it was developed, in addition to the presence of many elements who work in it, as well as after providing protection and follow-up, it has now become an attractive place for many families to sit and enjoy it, as well as opening its doors to school trips".
"The project contributed to the employment of a lot of workers, which reduces the unemployment rate in the governorate and helps the working class to get jobs, in addition to being a producer of many agricultural crops,"said the director of the Office of the Senior Official.
He added that "the green belt encircles the city to reduce the phenomenon of desertification, and is used as a wind and dust block, which contributes to modifying the climatic reality and tempering the atmosphere, and is an impregnable wall for the city of Karbala in front of environmental pollution and dust storms".
According to al-Shami," a number of cultural and consolation programs are held in the southern green belt for visitors to the project, on the days of religious events, including Muharram, where mourning councils were held there, "pointing out that"this large project, which was neglected, will open up prospects for similar projects."
