The success of a complex operation in Al-Kafeel hospital for a young man who lost control of his limbs

An Iraqi medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala performed a complex operation on a 17-year-old man with a cervical vertebra fracture following a fall accident that caused him severe weakness in the upper and lower extremities.

Dr. Ali Amer al-Shafe'i, a specialist in neurosurgery at the hospital, said," We performed a complex operation through which we replaced the sixth cervical vertebra of a Karbala patient with a fracture in this vertebra following an accident that caused him weakness in all four limbs as a result of spinal cord damage, "pointing out that "after conducting the necessary tests, it was decided to perform a surgical intervention through which the shattered vertebra was removed and replaced with an artificial one."

"The operation was carried out without any complications, after which the patient regained the movement of his four limbs completely with the stabilization of his health,"he added.

Al-Shafei pointed out that"the operation is one of the very difficult and complex operations, but the experience and skill of the Iraqi medical team contributed to its success, along with the means and modern devices in the hospital".
